Installation

Pysol III has a somewhat different focus than PySolFC. If you want to contribute to pysol development, you should check in at Sourceforge.

Pysol III is focused on presenting the user with easy installation, a smoother user interface, easier play and better documentation. For instance, PySolFC has rules for fewer than half of over 1000 games while Pysol III has rules for nearly every one of over 2400 games. Well... some of the rules are not all that clear:

--------------------------------------------------------
Senior Wrangler:
Object
Move all cards to the foundations.
Rules
Just keep clicking the talon and hope for the best.
--------------------------------------------------------

But on with the installation:

Open the tarball and copy "pysol" to the chosen installation directory. Move or copy pysol and nukuadocs into your path.

The likeliest installation directories being:

these are automatically searched by pysol for the file named pysollib/init.py. If you install to another directory you'll need to add it to the list in pysol. The pysoliii subdirectory alternatives are included if you want to keep an earlier edition (PySol or PySolFC) in the same directory.

The first time pysol is started, it's best to use an X terminal and start it from the command line. If pysol doesn't seem to work, try that. If the start up module "pysollib/init.py" isn't found, an attempt will be made to add the installation directory to the module search path. Follow the instructions as printed. An alternate method of starting the games will be displayed if all else fails.

nukuadocs or pysol -browse will start the document viewer as an independ application. Click the "Start Pysol" button at the bottom to play the last game played, or select the rules for a specific game and click to start it.
