About Tarokk

Tarokk, also spelled Tarock or Tarok is a 78 card deck with four suits of 10 pips and four courts plus an additional set of 22 trumps. When used to play the game of Tarokk, only some of the pip cards are used. The suit signs are either the standard Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts and Spades or Batons, Coins, Cups and Swords. Arbitrary meanings and values are assigned to the cards and their positions when used for cartomancy.

The Tarokk games in PySol, PySolFC and Pysol III should properly be called "Tarokk solitaire" since they are not Tarokk. They are mostly adaptations of games played with the 52 card French deck. Depending on the rules for the game being played, the "color" of the trumps may be the alternate of all of the other colors and in some cases also of itself.

See Cartomancy Type Games for more information on the Tarot cards.
